Sometimes, when a person passes on, they enter the next realm in a state of confusion, denial or even stubbornness. This can happen when a person crosses over with little or no preparation (see Conscious Crossing). If the person died suddenly, violently, from drug overdose or even heavily medicated in a medical environment, they may not even realize that they are dead. In addition, those with extremely strong ties to other people or unresolved responsibilities may try to continue their work after crossing over. These activities may result in haunting or poltergeist activity in an area or perhaps even surrounding an individual.
The spirit may be a loved one wanting to continue their caretaking of their family and friends. It may also be someone seeking revenge for perceived wrongs done to them while living. In either case, it must be communicated to the spirit that their best way to accomplish their goals and heal in the process is to leave the earthly plane and continue onward.
It is important to contact these spirits to help guide them on in their Journey. A spirit trapped on the earthly plane is suffering because they are trying to do things they are not really able to accomplish. By communicating with the spirit, it becomes possible for the spirit to become aware of their current situation and thus be able to continue on in their Journey.
